From the courtroom
Speaking before the court, the believer stressed that she was being persecuted solely for her religious beliefs, and explained why she considers herself innocent: "This criminal case is absolutely illogical for me, given that I did not kill anyone, steal anything and did not commit other crimes."
Transcript of the court session in the Sovetsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod dated 05.05.2022 in the case 1-41/2022 (1-419/2021) on charges of Galina Alekseevna Abrosimova of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Abrosimova Galina Alekseevna: Your Honor, since the actions I am accused of are dictated by my religious beliefs, in some cases I will justify my words by what I believe in. And if a quote from the Holy Scriptures is heard in my speech, then it will be the Bible in a generally recognized Synodal translation.
I want to start my last word with words of gratitude. What I am grateful to you for, Your Honor, is that I have the opportunity to present my case before a man who is an expert in the law and has the experience and the necessary insight to figure everything out. I would like to thank the secretary of the court session for his politeness and beautiful smile. Thanks to the lawyer and the prosecutor for not letting me forget who I really should be, namely a polite Christian, obedient to Jesus Christ and devoted to Jehovah God. Thanks everyone.
Your Honor, a lot was said at the meetings, but as I said in my testimony, these words were common phrases. So I thought for a long time about what to say in the last word.
Some time ago, I gave you some facts from my biography, so I want to touch on it a little bit this time. Strangely enough, as a child I was an indefatigable child, and my mother tried in every possible way to sit me down for knitting (at preschool age), then for a book. But my restlessness would not let me rest. Growing up, I began to love reading more. And by the time I graduated, I could read day and night. In our family, it was customary to go to the library once a week for a new batch of books. I really enjoyed reading the classics. The years passed. Work, family and children began to take up more time, and as a result, I began to read less. And so, as I said in my testimony, I heard the name of God for the first time. Why am I saying all this?
As soon as the opportunity arose, I decided to check on the Internet whether the name of God "Jehovah" was known before. And it turned out that the name "Jehovah" is repeatedly found in the works of the classics. Among these writers there are such famous authors as Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Kuprin, Yesenin and many others. This suggests that people knew not only who the name belonged to, but also who was behind it.
Interestingly, since school I have not liked history, although I have enjoyed reading historical works. Studying the Bible, on the contrary, I began to understand and love this science. I saw that the Bible was connected to her, I saw how history confirms what was once predicted in the Bible. One of such striking examples is Alexander the Great. Here is what the Jewish historian Josephus writes: "When the book of Daniel was shown to him, where it was said that one of the Greeks would crush the power of the Persians, Alexander was quite sure that this prediction concerned himself" (this happened around 332 BC). Historical facts indicate that the prophecies from the 8th chapter of the book of Daniel were fulfilled on Alexander the Great to the smallest detail.
Your Honor, in the Gospel of Mark, chapter 13, verse 9, the words of Jesus Christ are recorded: "But you take care of yourselves; for you will be brought to the courts... and they will put you before rulers and kings for Me, to testify before them." In other words, the fact that I, a simple woman, am standing in front of you, indicates that this prophecy is being fulfilled right here, before your eyes.
As I said in my testimony, extremism is alien to me. Why? Because he is a stranger to both Jehovah God and his Son, Jesus Christ. On December 11, 2018, at a meeting of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, President Vladimir Putin said the following: "About Jehovah's Witnesses… We should treat representatives of all religions equally — it's true, but still, we need to take into account the country and the society in which we live. However, this does not mean at all that we should enroll representatives of religious communities in some destructive, let alone terrorist organizations. Of course, this is complete nonsense, we need to deal with it carefully, I agree with you here… Jehovah's Witnesses are also Christians, and I don't really understand why they should be persecuted either."
Thus, this criminal case seems to me absolutely illogical, given that I did not kill anyone, steal anything, or commit other crimes. I couldn't have found an explanation for why I was in the dock if I hadn't known the prophecy I mentioned above.
Your Honor, dear court, I hope for your prudence and common sense. Of course, I will accept any decision you make, but I still count on a fair — acquittal - verdict. And once again I ask: to terminate the criminal case against me, Abrosimova G. A., on charges of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation due to the absence of corpus delicti in my actions (Resolution of the Plenum of the Supreme Court No. 32 of 10/28/2021).
Thank you for listening to me patiently.
