Four Searches, Interrogations, and New Criminal Case: Persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Crimea Continues

On August 5, 2024, six Jehovah's Witnesses from Crimea were searched and interrogated. A criminal case has been opened against the elderly believer.
In the early morning, several armed groups of masked law enforcers invaded the homes of believers from the villages of Razdolnoye, Senokosnoye and the city of Alushta. Law enforcement officers rudely demanded passwords from electronic devices, asked about fellow believers, and in one case threatened to harm the pet. Electronic devices, including a push-button phone, and personal records were seized. The searches were carried out under the leadership of the senior investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea Y. A. Merkulov.
In the village of Razdolnoye, they came to a believer's workplace. He was laid face down on the floor and his hands were covered with a nylon tie, which injured him. Later, the man recorded injuries in the emergency room, but the medical certificate was taken away from him at the police station.
Four hours after the start of the searches, a criminal case was opened against Tamara Bratseva, 68, under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation.
Over the past 7 years, already 30 Jehovah's Witnesses in Crimea have been prosecuted for their faith. Eight of them are serving their sentences in penal colonies, one was transferred to prison by a court decision, another was sentenced to forced labor, and three were given suspended sentences.
