Bryansk region
The believer explained to the court that love motivates her to talk to people about God. She asked the court: "Do you think that words from the Bible can harm the constitutional order, a group of people or an individual citizen of the Russian Federation? On the contrary, they bring comfort and hope!"
Transcript of the court session in the Unechsky District Court of the Bryansk region dated 06/25/2024 in case 1-16/2024 on charges of Globa Yulia Valentinovna of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Globa Julia Valentinovna:
First of all, I want to thank everyone who was somehow involved in my court case. I want to say thank you to my beloved devoted husband Eric, who was always there for me and helped me in everything.
I also want to thank the presiding judge, Tatyana Nikolaevna Postavneva, for the respectful attitude and for the fact that my husband was allowed to participate as a defender. I thank the secretary for calling us and informing us about the meetings, and for always talking to us tactfully and respectfully.
Thank you to all our dear friends who sacrificed their time, energy and supported my husband and me. Your presence, our precious ones, has warmed and given us strength in this difficult time for us.
What happiness it is to live and enjoy every day! Probably, many people here are familiar with these feelings. I began to feel this way when I began to study the Bible and follow two very important commandments in my life. The first one reads like this: "Love your God Jehovah with all your heart, with all your soul. This is the first and most important commandment. And the second is similar to it: "Love your neighbors as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-40). When you truly love God, you just can't help but love your neighbor.
But what kind of love are we talking about here? This love is written in the Bible: "Love is patient and kind. Love does not envy or brag, it is not proud, does not behave indecently, does not act selfishly, does not get annoyed, does not count insults, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth, endures everything, believes everything, never loses hope, endures everything steadfastly. Love will always exist" (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). How joyful it is that heavenly Father teaches me not just to know about this love, but to live in harmony with these words. The Creator himself is the source of love. He showed it in the greatest way. That's how the Bible says it.: "He who does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love for us: God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that through His Son we would receive life. Love does not consist in loving God, but in the fact that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice of reconciliation for our sins (1 John 4:8-10).
If we recall the life of Jesus Christ, the son of God, then his whole life path speaks of love. The Bible says that people are especially dear to Jesus (Proverbs 8:31). He spared no effort for people, and people felt easy and comfortable around him. He performed miracles not only because God gave him the power to do so, but also because he felt a great desire to help (Mark 1:40-42). He treated people kindly and with an open mind. His words brought comfort and gave hope to all sincere people who listened to him. Jesus loved people so much that he was ready to go to torment and even death for them. But those who live in accordance with his teachings are especially dear to him.
Agree that it is much easier to live when we have an example in life. This kind attitude of Jesus towards people encourages me to treat them kindly. What was the most important thing for Jesus? That's what he said himself: "I must preach the glad tidings of the kingdom of God" (Luke 4:43.) He was telling the glad tidings that God would establish a kingdom that would solve all the problems of humanity: disease, suffering, injustice, crime, and even death. For three and a half years, Jesus spared neither time nor effort for this task. Why? Because he understood that with such hope for the future, it is already easier to endure difficulties.
Your Honor, you know how hard life is for people right now, and shouldn't love for them encourage me to share this hope that I learned from the Bible? Listen to what wonderful words will be fulfilled from the Bible: "A little more, and those who do evil will be gone" (Psalm 37:10). With the help of the Kingdom, Jesus will make sure that there will be peace and justice on the whole earth" (Isaiah 11:4.) What will life be like when God's will is fulfilled on earth? Under the rule of the Kingdom of God, "the righteous will inherit the earth and live on it forever" (Psalm 37:29). Imagine what a world will be like, where only good, kind people will live, and everyone will love Jehovah and each other! No one will get sick, and life will last forever. People will become happy because they will live according to the laws of God. And when you know for yourself that the Bible predicts such grandiose events in the near future, and you realize that nothing can comfort people so much and help them look to the future with optimism, then you cannot remain silent. It's just impossible not to talk about it!
I want to recall one case. One day we wanted to comfort a grieving neighbor who had buried her husband. My husband and I wrote her a letter. In the letter, we assured her that God sees how difficult it is for her right now. We assured her that we would pray for her so that she could get through this difficult time and wrote words from the Bible, which describes God's promise for our deceased loved ones in the future: God will bring them back to life here on earth. This woman was surprised and touched by our attention to her. It was my love for this woman that prompted me to tell about the comforting hope. And another woman told us: "I wish there were more kind people like you!" And this is not the only manifestation of love for people on our part.
Your Honor, the fact that I am here is not an accident or a coincidence. Indeed, due to your employment, the employment of the prosecution, and perhaps other people in this room, you did not have the opportunity to hear or read about the wonderful future that is written in the Bible, and about the amazing conditions that our Creator has prepared for all mankind. In short, this is the essence of the message that is written in the Bible, which Jesus Christ spoke about. I'm glad I had the opportunity to talk about it.
Your Honor, do you think that words from the Bible can harm the constitutional order, a group of people, or an individual citizen of the Russian Federation? On the contrary, they bring comfort and hope! Your Honor, therefore, I do not consider myself guilty of the crime of which I am accused.
