Prosecutors against hate crimes meet with representatives of Diaconia Spain and Jehovah's Witnesses

May 10, 2024

Miguel Ángel Aguilar, Prosecutor Coordinator of the Unit against Hate crimes and Discrimination, together with Prosecutor Marta Marquina, held a meeting with representatives of Diaconía España, a social action platform of Protestant origin oriented to action and work with the most vulnerable people.

The prosecutors have also received members of Jehovah's Witnesses in Spain. During the meetings, Miguel Ángel Aguilar presented the work carried out by the Unit to combat criminal conduct in this area, as well as the functions and competencies that the legal system grants to the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office.

The representatives of these religious denominations have informed the prosecutors of the problems that affect them, as well as the aggressions they suffer because of their religious status.

These meetings have served to establish channels of collaboration and bilateral communication channels.
