The last word of the defendant Nikolai Dikhtyar in Luchegorsk

January 17, 2024

Primorsky Krai

In his last word, the believer said: "I regret one thing — that only at the age of 40 I became a Jehovah's Witness and learned the truth, which saved me from many rash actions. Now I can say with confidence: my conscience is clear both before God and people, and before the law."

Transcript of the court session in the Pozharsky District Court of Primorsky Krai, Luchegorsk, dated 01/17/2024 in the case 1-22/2023 on charges of Nikolai Petrovich Dikhtyar and others. of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Nikolai Petrovich Dikhtyar:

I will start by saying that the charges in our case are not against us personally, but against faith in Jehovah God. It's obvious. One law professor, our contemporary, said: "The law is not always fair, and justice is not always lawful." Wonderful words, aren't they?

But almost 200 years ago, Ivan Andreevich Krylov said no less wonderful words: "For the strong, the powerless is always to blame." Their moral is that, as a rule, people with power and authority oppress the weak and defenseless, pretending at the same time that they are acting according to the law. For example, to stipulate, slander innocent people in order to create problems for them and get their way.

But they forget the main thing, and this is recorded in the Bible, in the book of Isaiah, chapter 43, where Jehovah says: "All who are called by my name, whom I created for my glory, those whom I created. Bring people who are blind, although they have eyes, those who are deaf, although they have ears. Let all the nations come together, let the tribes meet. Which of their gods can predict the future and tell what will happen soon? Let them prove their case, let them bring their witnesses so that, after listening, they can confirm: "It's true!" You are my witnesses," says Jehovah, "my servant, whom I have chosen so that you may know me, believe in me, and understand that I am the same. There was no God before me, and there is no God who would appear after me. I am Jehovah, and there is no savior but me. I said it, and I saved it, and I made it known.… You are my witnesses," says Jehovah, —and I am God. I am always the same, and no one will take anything out of my hand. I'll start acting—who's going to stop me?"

Now a little bit about yourself. You could say I've lived a happy life. For example, I chose the most peaceful profession: I've been giving people light and warmth by working at the GRACes almost all my life. With my wife, we raised and raised three children and an orphan boy, giving them the most important thing in life — a clear conscience. It so happened that we raised a granddaughter from the cradle. She is a purposeful child — she graduated from school with a gold medal and is now studying in Novosibirsk with excellent results, living in Akademgorodok.

I regret one thing — that only at the age of 40 I became a Jehovah's Witness and learned the truth, which saved me from many rash actions. Now I can say with confidence: my conscience is clear both before God and people, and before the law.
